There is only one definition for zionism: its manifestation as the illegitimate state of 'Israel' in from the 20th century to the 21st century.

el-shab-hussein

Btw I think it's very important to reblog this, even if you don't have the time to watch the whole thing, just so someone else gets to watch it. There's a concerted effort by zionists and propagandists to try and change the literal definition of political zionism to something it's not. Since that's what this week's propaganda line is, make sure to reblog this. Don't let people feign ignorance.

transcription:

There is one word that explains the bloodshed, the genocide, the massacres, the bombing of hospitals and schools in Gaza today.

Zionism.

Many people will tell you that Zionism could mean different things to different people. Some people will say that Zionism is a liberal ideology. Some will even go as far as to say that Zionism is decolonization.

All of that is bullshit.

As a Palestinian, I am the direct subject of Zionism, I am an expert on it, in fact, because it is practiced on my body.

Zionism is a political ideology that was born in 19th century Europe that argued that the creation of a Jewish state would be the only solution for European anti-Semitism.

I can spend my time here quoting to you the pioneers of Zionism and how they explicitly stated that Zionism is a colonialist ideology, that it is a racist exclusionary ideology, but I'm not going to do this because Zionism is best defined by its material manifestations: home demolitions, military occupation, it is siege, apartheid, racial discrimination, racial elimination.

The facts speak for themselves. The latest being genocide.

Any project that can only achieve its goals through the elimination of one people, through dominating them and subjugating them is a genocidal project. It has not stopped since 1948 and it continues today. In fact, the past few months have been the most dramatic manifestation of Zionism, where over a million and a half Palestinians have been displaced from their homes in Gaza. Over 20,000 Palestinians have been murdered by Israeli forces.

You only have to look at the laws and the policies that Zionism has produced to understand it. For example in 1950, two key laws were passed in the Israeli Knesset. One: The Absentee Property Law, which prevented Palestinians who were forcibly dispossessed from their lands in 1948 from reclaiming their property, and two: the Law of Return, which says that any person who is born Jewish around the world can emigrate and get citizenship. Meanwhile, there are over 6 million Palestinian refugees lingering in refugee camps around the world, stateless.

I mean, my own home in Jerusalem is a prime example of this, where US-based settler organizations that are backed by the Israeli government and military, can come to our home and claim it as theirs by divine decree [#SAVE SHEIKH JARRAH]

And then they can exploit an already asymmetrical judiciary to dispossess us of our home.

"You are stealing my house!"
"And if I don't steal it, someone else is gonna steal it."
"No!"

This is not just happening to us, it's happening to thousands and thousands of families across Palestine. [#SAVE MASAFER YATTA]

Today Israeli leaders hold maps of a "Greater Israel" that not only swallows up whatever remains of Palestine, but large parts of the Middle East. They talk about how there are no Palestinian people, how their aim is not only to make life in Gaza uninhabitable but to re-occupy the Gaza Strip, to re-establish the settlements in the Gaza Strip.

The Zionist desire for Palestinian land is insatiable. It is rooted in the logic of taking as much Palestinian land as possible while having as little Palestinians on it as possible.

Zionism is the most arrogant form of racism. This is one of the only movements across history where soldiers film themselves humiliating people, berating people, stomping on people, giving confessions without remorse about the children that they have killed. This is because they have been awarded impunity. This is an army that has never faced consequences for all of its aggression.

Many people in Gaza live just outside of their destroyed villages. I don't think we often contend with what those facts mean. Here is a world encircled by an abundance that it is owed and they are robbed of food, they are robbed of water, they are robbed of their right to movement. Meanwhile, settlers enjoy all of these things on their lands, and until we reject Zionism, it will continue eating up and swallowing our lands.

Israeli state reps work tirelessly to make Zionism synonymous with Judaism. We must reject this completely. They are choosing to put the Star of David on their military uniforms, it is not my decision and so it is not my responsibility.

The fact that the world superpowers are lobbying to ban criticism of Zionism is proof that Zionism is rooted in imperialism

"Were there not an Israel, the United States of America would have to invent an Israel!" -1986, Joe Biden

"If there was not an Israel, we would have to invent one." -2022, Joe Biden

because Israel serves the United States' interests in the region; economic interests, business interests, weapons interests. Meanwhile, people in the United States have no access to free healthcare or free education.

To be anti-racist means that you have to be anti-Zionist. The only meaning that Zionism can hold is the meaning it practices today,

"This is Jewish country, only!"

racial elimination and settler-expansion, and the only solution to Zionism is abolishing Zionism. Dismantling the Zionist enterprise, that is the only way we can have dignity, justice and peace in the region. It is a moral obligation, because it is a moral obligation for everybody to oppose murder, theft and erasure.

Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs performing Fast Car at the Grammys

curiobjd

From the notes:

"so Luke Combs (the dude, country singer) released a cover of it this past year, and it became a hit. He didn't change the pronouns either. So a white guy covering a black woman's song, it becoming a hit and actually giving her the credit is nice. B/c of the song's popularity it won Song of the Year at the Country Music Awards. That award goes to the songwriter, Tracy, the first Black queer woman to win."

vaspider

He didn't change the pronouns or the gendered words which refer to the singer. He sings, "I work at the market as a checkout girl," which gives the entire thing a deep "closeted transmasc" vibe that I love so much.

There was a lot of fuss when the song first came out and then Chapman spoke up and said, essentially, "I really like this version, actually, and it's making me an awful lot of money, which is nice, so please leave him alone."

I think it's also important to note that at one point, the camera cuts to Brandi Carlisle, a lesbian folk singer, who is holding on to her wife. I'm quite sure that was intentional.

(Speaking of watching people who are so happy to be where they are, the way that Brandi can't stop staring at Joni Mitchell and smiling when they performed together later that night... you can basically see that her entire train of thought is I AM ON STAGE AT THE GRAMMYS WITH JONI MITCHELL!! MY LIFE IS SO COOL!! and that's pretty fucking great.)

Anonymous asked:

Hi, I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. Gaza has been has been bombarded, cut form electricity, not received aid, etc. So how do we get pictures and videos of what's happening there? Because surely , Israel would've cut internet at the same time than electricity.

I'm not trying to deny what's happening in Palestine , just understanding better. Where I live there's not coverage or news about it in the media so all I know is from social medias and we all know we can't trust everything on here.

Thanks

tamarrud answered:

I think that’s a fair question to have.

Palestinians have always had to be creative when it comes to finding ways of survival.

For starters, when this aggression was in its early stages, telecom companies like PalTel would assure everyone that their coverage is built to last longer than other companies because, according to their CEO, they have been preparing for war for 15 years. For example, contrary to what other telecom companies do, PalTel run their cables way deeper than necessary to ensure less effects of bombing.

Later though, even PalTel had to go out of service for the most part due to Israel’s relentless bombing. Not to mention, Israel deliberately targets and kills telecom company workers who even try to repair damages to what remained of the network.

Now, the only viable option that Palestinians in Gaza have to connect with the outside world is in fact through e-SIMs. This initiative was started by Egyptian activist Mirna El Helbawi which you can actually donate to and help connect people in Gaza to reach their loved ones and to get help when needed. We hear stories every day of people not being able to notify the civil defense or medics about wounded people following airstrikes who later succumb to their injuries.

As for electricity, at the beginning of all of this carnage, people would use generators. This is actually quite a normal practice as the electricity in Gaza was never provided consistently so people would switch to generators regularly. However, generators are powered by fuel, which is something else that Israel cut off the strip.

So when people and shops ran out of fuel, people started utilising solar panels and continue to do that as their main source to charge phones. Some people would even start applying a fee to allow people to use their charging stations, which are usually set up in tents or on top of cars. Others would walk miles every day to access free solar powered charging stations to be able to charge their phones.

Still, Israel started targeting solar panels specifically so they are not as widely available as before and the dust and debris from bombing rendered a lot of those panels useless. Some people started using car batteries to set up charging stations now.

With all of that, connections are weak and spotty and some people literally travel to other areas under so much threat just so they can connect and hear the voices of their loved ones. I was actually watching a video earlier today that shows people going on hilltops, raising their arms up hoping to “catch” a signal.

When it comes to the pictures and videos, remember that what you’re seeing, with all its magnitude, is a drop in a sea of Israeli terror against Gaza. Journalists have literally sacrificed their lives trying to get the word out. Kids started to record and share videos because even they realise that this horror is too much for them to bear alone. This is why it is crucial to amplify their voices and share their stories because they’re literally doing it in the most impossible of situations.

To the person who asked me something very similar in my inbox, I don't know if you also sent this to a few blogs or just me, but I think this is an incredibly important response to this question, and I hope you see this.

i just had the funniest experience in vr chat, i joined a random server and the one i joined had Japanese people so i waddled around in my goofy club penguin avatar that i have saved, after a while a guy walks up to me and clones my avatar so were both penguins then another guy shows up and clone my avatar

image

now keep in mind there only speaking Japanese i don’t know what they are saying, then another guy joins in, so i got a group of three penguin friends

image

we just waddle around and goof about, the one of them tries to talk to me, but not only do i not have a mic i also don’t speak Japanese, they figure out i don’t speak Japanese and start listing various places, they get the part of being European right, and after listing a lot of places they ask if im from the UK and when i nod they all just start cheering. after hanging out for a while one of them gets real close to me and whispers…
